Welding Book

Management and control of weldings

WeldingBook is a software system that deals with the production and inspection cycle of plant welds and associated activities such as: heat treatments and non-destructive testing carried out both during prefabrication and during assembly, and the management of the related certificates.

The application allows the progress of the production to be monitored at any moment, and provides the list of jobs that result as being necessary to perform in the light of the outcome attained in the previous phase (whether positive or negative). This allows the best possible organization of the efforts of the teams involved and ensures the availability at any moment of the updated situation relating to welding activities such as: repairs, inspections and heat treatments.

The system allows the development and history of every weld to be monitored (date of executing the weld and any subsequent repairs, welder's identifying stamp, heat treatment envisaged/carried out, outcome of non-destructive testing, and correlation to the relative certificates); in addition, it allows the verification of the extent of the inspections carried out with respect to those requested, divided by type and by welder, allowing the elaboration of an overall qualitative appraisal of the individual welders.

The production of a summary report highlighting the implementation of the contractually foreseen inspection phases allows the Client to be provided with the updated situation at any moment.

The section dedicated to reporting allows the production of summary or inspection printouts, such as: the list of the welds to be repaired, the printout of the statistical data on the production of welds (highlights, for each welder, how many joints have been completed and how many remain to be welded), the daily production of welds for each welder, the list of the sketches with related joints welded, the general summary of the operations carried out on welded seams (reports, for each joint, the information on the tests carried out and the welders that participated in the welding), etc. The introduction of automatic functions for importing data from other systems (such as or others) facilitates and accelerates the filling of the database; nonetheless, the application is extremely flexible and capable of operating independently.
